Honda notified the NHTSA in a December 2, 2011 letter, that Honda intends to recall up to 126,000 of the 2001 to 2010 and 2012 model year Honda GL1800 Goldwing. The recall stems from a brake system failure. Under certain conditions the secondary master cylinder may malfunction causing the rear brake to not fully disengage after the brakes are released.  The resulting brake drag may result in unexpected braking and increase the risk of a crash. Continued riding with the rear brake engaged may generate enough heat to cause the rear brake to catch fire.  Honda is issuing recall notices to the owners of bikes included in the recall.  Honda says they will inspect the bike and, if necessary, replace the secondary master cylinder, at no charge to the customer.  According to the recall notice owners should expect to leave their bike with Honda for half a day to complete the inspection and repair.
